Be a Language Chameleon - Learn Aussie Slang






Australia is an English speaking country, people from overseas have a big challenge to be accustomed the way of Aussies speaking. 
From web research we can find lots of information about Aussies slang words. That's really interesting!  Wanna be a language  chameleon in Australia? Then it's right time to learn their native slang. (Trust me,  I'm trying to learn hard.)


Australian slang is referred to as "Strine" and it is informal language, but when Aussie people using these certain words and phrases that’s complete gibberish to most other people from different countries.

 People from overseas try to guess the meaning of Australian slang, but they are miserably failed.

UK’s guess: “The wife is always correct”
Russia’s guess: “She will be back in a minute”
Actual meaning: Everything will be fine

Germany’s guess: “Something that is disgusting”

Sweden: “You fool”

Actual meaning: A remarkable person or thing

Germany: “To be confused”
Sweden: “Having a headache”
Actual meaning: To be unattractive

Canada: “Someone who isn’t very smart” (bingo!)
Poland: “To be very messy”

Actual meaning: To be foolish, nonsensical, crazy

France: “She just wants your money”
US: “A big storm”
Actual meaning: Something awesome

US: “One of the former Prime Ministers”
Actual meaning: Enthusiastic yes, you bet (taken from “f**ken oath”)

‘GOON BAG’
Sweden: “A crazy person”
Poland: “Not a very smart person”
Actual meaning: Wine, usually cheap, sold in a cask

‘CRACK THE SH*TS’ 
US: “To get nervous”
Germany: “To clear out quickly”
Actual meaning: To get angry or annoyed.
